We're partnering with a well-known Australian organisation investing heavily in the maturity of its hybrid infrastructure and cloud security capability. This isn't a project role where you'll build something and walk away. You'll become one of the technical leaders responsible for securing, evolving and continuously improving a complex enterprise environment spanning on-premises infrastructure, networking and Azure cloud.

You'll work across networking, infrastructure, endpoint security and architecture, solving real technical challenges while influencing the future direction of the platform.

What this role is about

• Owning connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure, including hybrid networking, DNS routing and security across that boundary.

• Designing, building and supporting enterprise Azure infrastructure alongside the on-prem network and systems it connects to.

• Securing and managing endpoints across the hybrid estate.

• Troubleshooting complex networking and DNS issues spanning on-prem and cloud.

• Improving vulnerability management, patching and security posture across on-prem and cloud.

• Driving automation using Infrastructure as Code and modern engineering practices.

• Securing Microsoft cloud technologies including Azure, Entra ID and Microsoft 365.

• Implementing governance, policy and security controls across on-prem and cloud.

• Partnering with technical and business stakeholders to uplift platform maturity.

• Playing a key role in the organisation's secure adoption of AI technologies.

Must-have experience

• We're looking for someone who has genuinely built and operated hybrid on-prem/Azure environments and can explain the networking and connectivity decisions they've made.

• Ideally you'll bring experience with

• Hybrid connectivity between on-prem and Azure (VPN, ExpressRoute)

• DNS architecture and troubleshooting across on-prem and cloud

• On-prem networking — routing, switching, firewalls, segmentation

• Endpoint security and management across a hybrid fleet

• Enterprise Azure architecture, Landing Zones and Azure Policy

• Hub-and-spoke networking, Private Endpoints, Azure Firewall

• Microsoft Defender, Sentinel and cloud security tooling

• Entra ID, Conditional Access, RBAC and PIM

• Terraform, Bicep or Infrastructure as Code

• Vulnerability management and security operations

• Most importantly, you'll enjoy solving complex technical problems, taking ownership and working independently.

About you

• You'll likely come from a senior network engineering, infrastructure or cloud platform background within a large enterprise, with strong hybrid infrastructure exposure rather than purely cloud-native. You're equally comfortable troubleshooting DNS and connectivity issues, discussing on-prem/Azure networking with engineers, or explaining security recommendations to senior stakeholders.
