The Company:

We are partnered with a global professional services network that provides services related to climate change, sustainability, and modern slavery assessments as part of their ESG and risk advisory practices.

Key areas include climate impact assessments, sustainability strategy development, modern slavery risk assessments, and ESG reporting frameworks, which are designed to foster sustainable, ethical business models, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance transparency for stakeholders.

The Role:

As a Sustainability Consultant, your role involves managing client accounts, guiding projects, and overseeing team operations, particularly with projects in climate, sustainability, energy, and environmental impact.

Your role will involve research, planning, and executing risk-related advisory work, including on-site activities at client sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee sustainability and climate-related consulting projects, guiding them from initial planning to final execution, which may involve conducting baseline and materiality assessments and crafting sustainability strategies and roadmaps.

  • Work closely with clients to gather necessary data and create carbon inventories, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, while also assessing climate-related risks.

  • Assist clients in meeting mandatory sustainability disclosure requirements in both Australia and other regions.

  • Develop statements addressing modern slavery to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Support clients in securing important sustainability certifications.

  • Prepare detailed engagement reports that offer practical business insights, collaborating with senior team members throughout the process.

  • Manage and coordinate team activities, providing training and mentorship while ensuring adherence to established methodologies.

  • Maintain strict budget management to avoid significant overruns and develop realistic financial plans.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level clients across various business environments.

  • Ensure timely completion of engagement files and electronic working papers for review by senior management.

  • Collaborate with senior team members to assist in business development and marketing efforts.

  • Facilitate workshops, conduct interviews, and deliver presentations on findings and tailored recommendations to clients.

Requirements:

(Whilst we are also hiring on potential, this is a key, senior position within the business)

  • Degree or relevant experience in Environment or Sustainability.

  • Three years and more of experience in sustainability, ideally in a professional services setting or a related industry role.

  • Familiarity with various key local and international frameworks, regulations, and methodologies, such as ASRS, NGER, GRI, SBTI, SASB, TNFD, CSRD, and GHG Protocol, among others.

  • Strong commitment to sustainability, climate change, environmental issues, or social causes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in client-facing scenarios.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the skill to present complex ideas clearly.
