Power Systems Engineer (Mid – Senior)

We’re working with a well-established engineering consultancy that’s growing its Power Systems team in various states across Australia. They are at the forefront of complex grid, renewables, and industrial power projects, and have had success over 20 years.

This isn’t a one-off vacancy, they are looking to bring in talented individuals as part of continued growth plans working across projects in energy and industrial clients.

Day-to-Day

Whilst the below are some of the key activities you’ll be working on, the list isn’t exhaustive and will depend on project scope.  On a work-split level, there are field-based responsibilities with around 70% being in the office, and 30% on site (week-by-week).  

- Modelling and simulations, including steady-state, dynamic and EMT analysis.
- Designing control and protection systems across utility-scale and renewable projects.
- Delivering power system studies for grid connections, renewable energy projects and large-scale operations.
- Supporting model validation, analysing compliance data and assessing system performance.
- Conducting arc flash assessments, site-wide audits and risk-based evaluation.
- Preparing high voltage submissions and reviewing compliance for a variety of clients.
- Managing project delivery, keeping stakeholders in the loop and making sure resources are on track.
- Providing mentoring and technical guidance as part of a collaborative, supportive team

Requirements

- Full Australian working rights (unfortunately no sponsorship available)
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Hands on experience in-role, min 3+ years mid, senior dependant on experience
- HV/LV background
- Confident with relevant software like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD etc
- Familiarity and willingness for on-site work, with client facing responsibilities experience.
