Manager, Data Strategy & Governance

This brand new role has been created to lead data governance uplift at enterprise level, and we’re hiring for it exclusively. You’ll oversee policy, quality SLAs, privacy classifications, access controls, lineage transparency, audit readiness, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the enterprise data governance framework (policy, roles, glossary, catalog, lineage)
    and establish governance committees for data.

  • Define and manage data quality SLAs, scorecards and issue remediation processes
    across priority domains.

  • Partner with Data Owners/Stewards under a hub-and-spoke model; coach, onboard and assure accountability in the spokes.

  • Ensure privacy/PII classifications, retention and access controls are embedded and
    evidenced, partner with Legal.

  • Assure lineage coverage and transparency for all certified datasets; integrate
    catalog/lineage with platform pipelines.

  • Run audits/readiness activities, close findings and continuous improvement controls.

  • Publish standards, patterns and reusable templates to lift self-service within guardrails.

  • Driving consistent adoption of governance standards across diverse legacy and modern
    platforms.

  • Maintaining regulatory confidence amidst changing requirements and data volumes.

  • Embedding privacy/security controls without impeding delivery velocity.

  • Sustaining stewardship in business units with competing priorities.

  • Getting data AI-ready to enable Endeavour to benefit from the AI Revolution.

Key Relationships

Internal: Senior Leaders, Data Stewards and Custodians, Board Digital Committee, Other sections in Data Branch, Internal Audit and Risk

 

External: Cloud Providers and AI vendors, Delivery Partners, Regulators/Industry bodies as required

Requirements
  • Degree in Information Management, Data/Computer Science, Business or related.

  • 7+ years in data governance, data management or enterprise reporting; 3+ years leading teams.

  • Hands-on experience with catalogs/lineage (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and data quality tooling; practical knowledge of Azure/Fabric/Power BI governance.

  • Proven hub-and-spoke operating model with Data Owners/Stewards; ability to coach and assure.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement across business, ICT, security, legal and finance; benefits assurance and value realisation.
