Senior/Lead Frontend Developer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're partnering with a large enterprise financial services organisation investing in modernising its digital platforms and customer-facing technology. With two frontend engineering roles available across two squads, this is a genuine opportunity to take a lead engineering position within a high-performing, cross-functional team on a multi-year initiative.

These roles sit within a central engineering practice that services multiple value streams across the business. One squad is focused on the maintenance and enhancement of existing customer-facing applications; the other is driving innovation, proof of concepts and new ways of working. Both are pure frontend engineering environments.

We're looking for Senior/Lead Frontend Engineers who are hands-on, technically strong in React and TypeScript, and ready to provide technical direction, mentorship and thought leadership within their squad.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead frontend engineering delivery within a cross-functional agile squad

  • Provide technical direction, peer reviews and day-to-day mentorship to junior engineers

  • Build and maintain modern React-based, customer-facing web applications at enterprise scale

  • Develop reusable UI components aligned to enterprise design systems

  • Collaborate closely with product, UX and engineering teams to deliver high-quality digital experiences

  • Contribute to frontend architecture decisions, engineering standards and continuous improvement

  • Engage with AI-assisted development tooling including GitHub Copilot and automated code generation

MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE

  • Strong, hands-on frontend engineering experience using React and TypeScript

  • Demonstrated experience with modern React libraries, newer approaches preferred over legacy

  • Proven experience with enterprise design systems in a customer-facing context

  • Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and component-based development

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and provide technical direction to other engineers

  • Experience working within enterprise agile delivery environments

HIGHLY REGARDED

  • Experience working with AI-assisted dev tools

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards

  • Azure exposure

  • Background in financial services or insurance

  • Experience working in a contract or consulting capacity across multiple delivery streams
