Shape Investment Strategy Across a Major Network Business
The Company:
We're partnering with a well established energy network organisation as it transitions from a traditional network operator into a broader system operator model. This is a newly created leadership role sitting at the heart of that transformation, connecting long term strategy with day to day investment logic across replacement, augmentation, future grid and market driven investment streams.
The Role:
You'll own the governance and continuous improvement of the organisation's core investment frameworks, giving decision makers the clarity and evidence they need to plan and optimise expenditure with confidence. This isn't just about maintaining frameworks, it's about becoming the strategic integrator who makes sure every investment tells a consistent, traceable story.
Responsibilities:
-
Maintaining a whole system view of how investment drivers such as replacement, augmentation, DER and digital connect
-
Aligning strategic frameworks so long term plans remain traceable to corporate strategy, risk position and customer outcomes
-
Leading roadmap governance and reporting cycles, tracking milestones, dependencies and measures of success
-
Owning and uplifting the asset management system, driving maturity improvements that are measurable and independently verifiable
-
Building and maintaining an investment evidence engine that connects risk, cost, benefit and outcome data across portfolios
-
Facilitating alignment forums between planning, portfolio and corporate strategy teams
-
Translating complex technical and risk insights into clear, customer centric narratives for executives and stakeholders
-
Tracking delivery outcomes and feeding lessons learned back into planning and strategy cycles
The Environment
-
You'll work across a mature asset management and investment planning landscape including:
-
-
Enterprise asset management systems and strategic asset management plans
-
Portfolio and roadmap governance tools
-
Risk, condition and performance data sets feeding investment decisions
-
Regulatory reporting and submission processes
-
Close collaboration with EPMO, corporate strategy and network planning functions
What They're Looking For
-
Strong understanding of ISO 55001 principles, asset management systems and continuous improvement governance
-
Experience in risk based investment planning, cost benefit analysis and long term scenario modelling
-
Proven ability to connect corporate strategy, regulatory expectations and operational realities into one coherent investment narrative
-
Comfort managing or governing data flows between asset management, risk and financial systems to ensure consistency and traceability
-
Confidence engaging with executives, regulators and field teams, with the ability to translate technical insight into business outcomes
-
Advanced analytical skills, comfortable using data and reporting tools to visualise investment evidence
-
A relevant degree in engineering, business or economics, or equivalent experience
-
Clear, confident communication style, comfortable bringing diverse stakeholders along on a complex transformation journey
Why This Role Stands Out
-
A genuinely new capability being built into the organisation, with real scope to shape how it operates
-
High visibility across the network business, working directly with heads of function and executive governance forums
-
Exposure to the full investment lifecycle, from unconstrained strategic planning through to portfolio delivery
-
A clear line of sight to future state responsibilities including digital twins, predictive analytics and flexibility market integration
-
The chance to be the strategic glue holding together replacement, growth and future grid investment decisions
This role would suit someone who enjoys working at the intersection of strategy, data and stakeholder influence, and who wants to help shape how a major network business plans its future.
Please note this role is hybrid, requiring time in the Sydney office each week, and requires full working rights in Australia.
